Hawaii Highlights

We recently got back from a trip to Oahu where we got to see Mark's work on the Laie temple and enjoy time just hanging on the beach.  We were worried about how Charlize would do on the long flight and the time change, but she did really well which made the trip an enjoyable experience for ALL of us. I am also really glad we chose to take the hiking pack rather than a stroller for her because she was much happier to be up by us getting the same point of view we had.

The highlights of the trip for us: Seeing the beautifully remodeled Laie temple, going to the awesome PCC show called "Ha! The Breath of Life" which was way better than any Luau I've ever seen, eating at all the places Mark had regularly ate at during his travels there (my favorite being the massive burger at the Hukilau Cafe and the dole whip at the pineapple plantation), hanging at the beaches with Mom and Dad, watching Charlize discover sand and trying not to think about how we would be finding sand everywhere and in everything for the next several days, going for an early morning run with my hunny by the beach, Dad finally learn how to roll his R's, getting blown away literally at the Poly's lookout, and just enjoying the whole atmosphere of Hawaii.

Charlize had a few 'firsts' while on the trip, some of them distinctly Hawaiian: First beach/sand, first taste of 'mac salad', first dole whip, and first (temporary) tattoo from the PCC.
